Please Spread This [Proposal] To Bathrooms Around The World!!!
The following photos were all taken in the girls' restroom stalls at the Farmington, NM Boys & Girls Club on December 7, 2012.
Thank you, Paige Trubatch, for the iPhone camera.
Description:
This project is designed to beautify the Boys & Girls Club bathroom
and empower its female club members to recognize their beauty and potential.
A sample of girls will help kick-start the project. The first stage
will involve priming the bathroom stall walls. The walls are being
primed for expression. Empowering quotes and sayings and thoughts
will be invited to blossom on the walls - by the original painters and
all the bathroom goers that follow. The project will operate successfully
under two assumed premises: (1) the girls love to decorate the bathroom
wall, (2) positive expression will snowball and have a lasting-impact
on the people who read, write, participate in the project. Club
members will be:
- Challenged to contribute creatively, positively, artistically
- Challenged to inspire & uplift one another
- Speak informally and reflect on the successes or shortcomings of the project; How it makes them feel
- Materials (minimal) such as paint will need to be supplied
A portfolio
will be created to document the progress of the project. The portfolio
will be a resource to any future peoples interested in the upkeep or
spread of the project. The portfolio will serve as a place to
report on the ongoing success or disappointment of the project.
Personal reflections may be recorded here by club members or staff.
Photos will be located here to document the project progression (or
lack thereof). Supplementary classes to explore female empowerment
will be encouraged and lesson plans provided in the portfolio.
